CAN KINSHIP OF AITKIN COUNTY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF YOUR CHILD THROUGH OUR MENTORING PROGRAM?

Kinship of Aitkin County's vision is to support youth and their families through positive mentoring experiences, education and healthy community connections.  Our staff works to meet the needs of children by providing adult volunteers to children providing a positive adult role model, education in character building, youth leadership programming and we work to create healthy community connections through service learning projects.

Your child must have an identifiable need which could be improved through our programming.  Referrals are accepted from parents, schools, local government agencies, counselors, churches, etc.

Your child must be in grades Kindergarden through 12th grade.

Your child must be a resident of Aitkin County.

Your child must want to be a part of Kinship and take an active part in our programming.

The parent and/or guardian must take an active part in our programming and be capable of supporting a Kinship mentoring relationship along with cooperating with Kinship staff and volunteers.

The parent and/or guardian must give written approval and must sign a waiver of legal liability for their child's participation in the Kinship of Aitkin County Program.

Special Circumstances:

A child with severe problems may not be best suited to the Kinship Program and would be best served by agencies with trained counselors and mentors.

A child who is party to a pending court or welfare department action involving custody, and/or out of home placement may not be acceptable until the custody/placement is resolved.  Exceptions may be made based on staff evaluation.
